Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing.  Those in need purchase the homes  and no interest is charged.    This Effingham County affiliate was founded by Morris Oglesby of Rincon and incorporated in 1996.  The Habitat ReStore opened to the public in March of 2007.    Brett Gordon Volunteer of the Year      Presented by the Rotorary Club Georgia Power's Donation Check      BB&T Volunteers presenting a donation check  to Habitat                      Men of Mt Carmel volunteering for the Christ Build House in Guyton Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.    Habitat's mission is to eliminate poverty housing from the earth. Habitat has taken its vision of a world with no more shacks to 53 nations.
